Another New England Weekend Living Bear Naked!

Saturday we went out to Rhode Island to support the swimmers of the Save the Bay swim event! The swim benefits the Save the Bay organization which works to protect and preserve the Narragansett Bay. The swimmers swam from Newport to Jamestown in a 1.7 mile swim! We were there for the picnic afterward where our parfaits, snack packs, and reusable grocery bags were a big hit!

Sunday we went out to Bridgeport, CT for the Parkcity Mossman Triathlon. The sun rose over the beach as the swimmers prepared to get the race started! We were there serving Bear Naked granola and yogurt parfaits, and the grocery bags we donated as runners bags dotted the landscape! It was a rather perfect setting for a Tri, and being right near Norwalk, CT (where Bear Naked was originally founded) we chatted with a lot of folks who knew Bear Naked well and a few of whom new Brendan and Kelley personally!

Stroke and Stride #10

After many families brought their used Bear Naked bags for the Terracycle program, those who did got a free Bear Naked shirt.  We were happy to give out 8+ shirts that evening.  The classic green grass and the Boulder blue sky was given the additional Bear Naked neon orange that day.

And even as the swim got cut a little early due to thunderstorms, I was aided by Mr. Charlie to give out the last quarter of sampling.  Seriously, Boulder people love Bear Naked.  Saw one guy attempt to eat our compostable spoons (made of cornstarch).  I think he ended up digesting only a fraction of the spoon; I ended up giving that a guy a bag just for the sake of choosing quality functional food groups.  I did a world a favor that day :)

Danskin Tri – and the Women who Rock’d it!

Wow what amazing women! This weekend we went out to the Danskin Triathlon, a women’s only event, and were blown away by the powerful and dedicated females who rocked this Tri!

Saturday we were at the DCU center in Worcester, MA for the Danskin Tri expo and registration handing out parfaits and snack packs.

Sunday we drove down to Webster, MA at 5am for the big event! In addition to the 3500 participants (ranging from 14-79 years old), the Webster Memorial Beach State Park was filled with their family, friends and supporters cheering on the gals and having a good time!

One woman is participating in all 10 (!!) Danskin Triathlons all over the country to raise money for breast cancer research! She has already met her initial goal of $10,000 and has increased her goal to $20,000!!! We were so touched by her story and happy we could be there to give her and all of the women a post-race Bear Naked granola snack!

On Saturday we went out the the Powwow Triathlon in Amesbury, MA- and all I can say is WOW! What an awesome event with amazing athletes! One woman told me Bear Naked was “the talk of the race” which was fun to hear, and all we could talk about was how FAST so many of these Tri-gals and guys could swim, ride and run!

Be sure to check out the pics below and take a look at our calendar (at the right hand side of our blog here!), and be sure to stop by the bright orange Bear Naked tent to pick up a parfait or sample snack pack at one of the upcoming events in your area! :)

Fat Tire Triathlon

The Fat Tire Triathlon is a 1/2 mile swim in the clear waters of Horsetooth Reservoir (Eltuk Bay), followed by a 12 mile single-track bike over rolling terrain and across valley bridges through Lory State Park, finishing with a fun and challenging 4.8 mile (8k) run on dirt trails!

Watching these athletes chow on our parfaits made me realize just how many calories these guys burn off.  We had one guy munch on our granola parfaits 6 times.  Hungry triathletes + limited granola supply = no more granola.  These guys ate us dry.  We were psyched that everybody got to sample and left with not only a grin about the tri, but a nice, granola-splashed smile.
