The initial Row for the Cure took place in 1994 on Portland’s Willamette River as a way for the rowing community to support runners and walkers participating in the Rose City’s Race for the Cure. That first regatta raised a modest $1,500.
Today, with events in 15 U.S. states and Germany, Row for the Cure has blossomed into a multi-sport event that includes athletes of all ages representing four sports; rowing, canoe/kayak, dragon boat and Native American paddling.
With over 20 cities having hosted a Row for the Cure, participants now raise over $300,000 annually, rowing and paddling together to save lives in their local communities.
We are going to be at the Pocock Rowing Center providing nutritious / delicious Bear Naked parfaits to these amazing athletes all working together for a great cause. Grab your man-powered water vehicle and join them!

This week on the Boston Bear Naked Tour we had a couple really fun events. Friday we went out to City Hall Plaza in downtown Boston for Bike Friday- a breakfast and bike expo for all the amazing riders who pedaled to work instead of driving their car! This fun event happens once a month through out the summer so make sure you come on out for July’s Bike Friday!
Saturday we drove out to Western MA to check out Zoar Outdoor’s Demofest! This awesome day of kayaking included demonstrations, clinics, and the ability to try out new kayaks out on the water! We hung out with Billy Harris (first pic below)- who is on the Canadian FreeStyle team! In addition to handing out parfaits and our new Bear Naked bumper stickers (that have a coupon on the back!), we also tried out some of the newly popular land kayaking! ;P

The TEVA Mtn Games rocked our world! Events that are common to the Mtn games: racing, slopestyle, dockdogs, mud run, bouldering, music, food, kayaking, parkour, bike stunts, etc, etc, etc. This event was no joke. Not only were the people rooting for their companions of all sports and culture, the people were rooting for Bear Naked. The people of Vail have spoken; they are voraciously craving granola and we gave it to them…literally all of it.
Dogs were jumping 22+ feet into the water, bikers were stunting backflip tailwhips across 25 foot gaps, climbers were performing dynos vertically, cyclists were bombing their course, kayakers were throwing down flips, and runners were hightailing it through the trenches of mud. TEVA Mtn Games = pure sport chaos. Thank goodness we could provide all these athletes and spectators with the most tastiest form of carbohydrates: granola parfaits!!!
