After many families brought their used Bear Naked bags for the Terracycle program, those who did got a free Bear Naked shirt. We were happy to give out 8+ shirts that evening. The classic green grass and the Boulder blue sky was given the additional Bear Naked neon orange that day.
And even as the swim got cut a little early due to thunderstorms, I was aided by Mr. Charlie to give out the last quarter of sampling. Seriously, Boulder people love Bear Naked. Saw one guy attempt to eat our compostable spoons (made of cornstarch). I think he ended up digesting only a fraction of the spoon; I ended up giving that a guy a bag just for the sake of choosing quality functional food groups. I did a world a favor that day

Talk about getting dirty. After this silly duathlon had been completed, we were greeted by Charlie Chapmans, Talking Bananas, French Maids, and Ninjas to name a few of the many characters that tried our parfaits. As we brought only a limited supply of reusable bags, we had created a huge buzz about both the parfaits and our baggies. People were willing to trade certain articles of clothing for a bag and even a pair of muddy shoes. This race was a ton of fun and the scenery was absolutely stunning. Everybody from little tikes to grandparents were running and cycling together in this amusing race to the finish line.

The 5430 Long Course Triathlon is the third of three races comprising the 2009 Boulder Triathlon Series. The other two are the 5430 Sprint Triathlon on June 21, and the Boulder Peak Triathlon on July 12. A special Boulder Triathlon Series registration package rate for all three races is available. There will be $16,000 in cash and gift certificates from our sponsors for the top age group finishers in the Series.
We were noticed by many of the Stroke and Stride participants who where registering for the Long Course Tri this Saturday. I feel like I actually know a lot of these participants by name now. They always shoot me their smile from afar and it’s pretty easy to call out their favorite flavor by now.
We were also bombarded with long lines alongside voracious appetites. Our favorite line was, “Bear Naked granola? Who needs yogurt? I’ll have it naked.”

This event was STELLAR. I couldn’t believe the hardcore triathletes that come from all over the country to these events. Some of the winners had just flew in from another state the previous day. Not only that, they ran a triathlon the day before. Race, rest, fly to CO, race, fly home, race, race, race. So hardcore. I love to see such dedication and commitment to a sport. It’s very inspirational.
The Expo day was so great. We really got some one on one time with the families, athletes, and supporters of the event. On occasion, we would even get the meanderers that were just chillin’ in the sun at the beach. A beach date on Boulder Reservoir is on my list of “things to do”. Many came with furies of hunger, requesting that they sample a little of each flavor. I’m stoked that they got to try of it as much of it as they did. They got the full Bear Naked treatment
Race day. I saw some individuals with claw marks on their back from the swim. Some looked like they took a digger from their bikes and received some minor road rashes. Finally, some serious massages to the legs finished off the run. These athletes haul! We have such respect for these athletes. Seriously, nothing can hold them back. We got some seriously beaming smiles from our parfaits. For many, the parfaits just hit the spot. We had a lot of athletes ask us if we were going to stay after the event to sample…of course, dudes and dudettes! We’re here to support all of you. And when they came for that shear parfait…shear delight. Yum yum.

For another time, these guys did it again. Even with some thunderstorms and heavy rain in the Denver metro area, beautiful Boulder prevailed with stunning sunshine and sublime weather. I was met with probably the biggest BN fan yet; the last time I had seen him, I had given him a bright orange BN shirt. Sure enough, I was greeted with this guy reppin’ our stuff. He pretty much volunteered himself to help out at the tent. Much thanks to Charlie- my official BN bro.
Otherwise, the turnout was great. Many showed, got their race on, and got to enjoy some BN parfaits at the end of their race. As this was the third time at the weekly Stroke and Stride events for the BN tour, I was given much gratitude from the racers, attendees, and directors alike. I couldn’t have done it without them. Thanks so much for the support, Boulder. Peace out.

Swing by Boulder Reservoir for some parfaits. We’ll be kickin’ it with the Boulder triathletes.
I had a great time sampling Round 2 with these guys. I had a group of young guns come up for a couple of parfaits and realized I had a couple of youth sized shirts. I then decided to create my BN Chow Squad. Fueled with some Heavenly Chocolate parfaits, these tykes went out and repped our stuff like a bunch of pros. This was definitely an unforgettable moment in BN history.

I was delighted with so many fans of Bear Naked at SS’s #6 event. Racers seem to have come from all over Colorado to get a little swim/run race in before the night ended. I was thrilled to see so many people out on the lake along with their supporters. With the food booth near us, it seemed like the parfaits really hit the spot as a post race finish. I was glad to see that so many had recognized me from past events. We’re on a name-by-name association now. Man, I love Boulder. Peace.

The 5430 Sprint Tri took place at the stunning Boulder Reservoir. Racers and spectators indulged their senses with food, beer, massages, music, and of course- RACING! As the music jammed in the background, racers of all ages (17-79+) swam, cycled, and ran this course, all the while the volunteers were cookin’ some serious grub at the breakfast station. Many who attended decided that a good pre and post-meal consisted of a Bear Naked parfait. We were delighted to sample many excited spectators and top notch racers on both the expo day (Saturday) and race day (Sunday).
On a personal note, I was thoroughly amazed with the sheer dedication that these athletes have with their sport. One such individual (age 79) had a particular goal of his almost attained…to complete 100 races between the ages of 70 and 80. He was at number 86. Amazing. Mad props to him and those just like him. Keep on truckin’!!!

Dear Bolder-Boulder,
You were amazing. We sampled 10,000 individuals in a matter of hours. We had lines forming from every direction. People were starving for our parfaits. Hands were grabbing them left and right, faster than we could put them out. The people left smiling, sweaty, and gleaming after tasting our delectable treat.
Those people in costumes were a great inclusion to the race. I even found Waldo (from Where’s Waldo). Such a great event. We’ll see you in the future, BB.
