Lovin’ the Golden Coast

We drove down the Cali coast to lover’s point park for the Pacific Grove Triathlon. Our fun-filled weekend included an Olympic Distance Tri, Sprint, 10K and 5K race. Thousands of athletes participated and received Bear Naked love after crossing the finish line. It was inspiring to see all the athletes out in the bay and hitting in concrete – truly a great accomplishment! Check out the pictures of this awesome race.

Fires in Boulder

Due to the fires in Boulder, two of our events this weekend have been canceled. Because of this, we surprised some soccer fans and a few soccer complexes in the area and gave them tons of granola and coupons!

Tomorrow we will be at the Aurora Reservoir for the Harvest Moon Triathlon. Hopefully we will see you there!

A .7mile loop was setup in Downtown San Francisco this past Labor Day with over 10 cycling races throughout the day. These elite athletes were flying around the corners on this short loop and it was awesome to watch. Hundreds of riders and supporters came out for the race and were lucky enough to grab some Bear Naked parfaits.

Race To The End Of Summer

Say it ain’t so! We’re not ready to let go of summer. This past Sunday we headed down to San Jose for the Race To The End of Summer 5K/10K. All the participants woke up early to soak up all the summer sun they could get before it leaves. The race didn’t disappoint - it was in the mid-80’s and a great time to hit the concrete for a run. Everyone was happy to grab a granola parfait after they crossed the finish line.

Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere) is a non-competitive, women’s cycling experience created as a venue for women of all ages and fitness levels to experience camaraderie and to increase awareness of domestic violence while raising funds for Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP).

This event was created by women passionate about cycling, friendship, fitness, and the desire to “brake the cycle” of domestic violence and make a difference.   100% of the proceeds will benefit EDVP.

Cyclists will start and finish at Tibbetts Valley Park in Issaquah and throughout the day pedal through the cities of Issaquah, Bellevue, South King County, Renton and Newcastle. The ride offers a choice of three fun routes; the 25-mile Girly Girl, the 40-mile Middle Sister, or our 62-mile metric century Burly Girl. Participants can expect lots of girly surprises and a fantastic finish line reception!… unfortunately we won’t be there, but ladies check your participant bag because we added some delicious Bear Naked samples and awesome coupons. Hope to see you there next year!

Bear Naked Escapes From Alcatraz

Posted on September 1st, 2010 | by Amber & Phil | No Comments »

This past weekend we attended The Inaugural San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz. Saturday’s expo was windy to say the least. Our granola samples weren’t the only things flying off our tables. Our crates, bags, coupons took off in the wind many times. Their were periods when the Bear Naked tent almost took off like that house in Wizard of Oz! The Bear Naked team stabilized and stood their ground to fuel up the athletes courageous enough to take on the Alcatraz Tri.

Luckily the tri-athletes plea to Aeolus was granted and Sunday mornings race was practically windless. All the awesome athletes survived the escape from Alcatraz and grabbed some Bear Naked goodness at the finish line. Congrats to all the finishers!

TakeYourBike: Canada to Mexico & everywhere in between – Seattle, WA

5:00 pmto7:00 pm

TakeYourBike is a not-for-profit organization that was created in an effort to help raise awareness of the many benefits introduced by incorporating commuter cycling into your daily life. We promote the many positive facets of a commuter cyclist’s lifestyle including the health benefits, environmental sustainability, economic impact, and community mentality. The Border2Border tour is to be the first of many actions on our part to build a more active and conscious base of commuters – cyclists and non-cyclists alike.

On September 12, 2010,  the TakeYourBike team will ride their bikes from Canada to Mexico in an effort to promote the viability of bicycles as a daily transportation vehicle, the sustainability of the bicycle as a mode of transportation in today’s global climate, and the many other positive facets of incorporating riding a bike into your daily life. Over 6 weeks long in duration, the Border2Border Tour will pass through Seattle, Olympia, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Huntington Beach, and San Diego hosting awareness rides, running promotional events at local bike shops, and interviewing members of the commuter cycling community.

I’m thrilled to hear that we’ll be able to take some Bear Naked product out with us on the tour – I have been a fan since this past winter when I first sampled some of your products at an event at Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Colorado. As an endurance athlete myself (I’m a competitive cyclist and triathlete), I agree – the bars do wonders on the long rides. We will be stopping at the Montlake Bicycle Shop on September 13th and leading a group ride from there at 7. Next stop Olympia and then South!

September 12, 2010

While most people dream of living on Mercer Island, with it’s picturesque views of Mt. Rainier, Seattle and close proximity to Bellevue the theme of this race is to get off this beautiful foot shaped island. Broken into three stages – typical for triathlons these days – participants will be swimming a half-mile, biking 12 miles, and finishing off on a 2.5-mile run.  We will be there handing out delicious Bear Naked parfaits and granola bars. See you on the Rock!
