Joggers and Striders breakin’ a sweat

It was so so hot in Oakland early Sunday morning as the Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders club took off from the finish line. Some ran a speedy 5K, while others sweat their tails off with two or three laps around the lake, completing either the 10 or 15K. The Bear Naked table definitely soaked up some scorching sun, loving the delayed summer weather in the Bay Area.

First-timers, old-timers and everyone in between jogged and strode around the shimmering water, chatting and reminiscing about past Fourth Sunday Races. Bear Naked Granola with cool yogurt? An excited “Yes, please!” was often the answer.

See Jane Run…and bike…and swim!

The See Jane Run Triathlon in Pleasanton was packed with charm– a beautiful sunny day, strong ladies everywhere and an all-around good vibe that went down perfect with a side of Bear Naked. The “Super Janes” were in their capes and bright-colored jumpers, but it was the rest of the crowd that did the impressing, making powerful strides through the race’s ups, downs, ins and outs. Cool yogurt on top of our all-natural flavors was a nice way for all the Janes to recharge post-race and everybody had a great morning, in spite of the fact that this See Jane Run event didn’t include champagne– good thing the bubbly Bear Naked staff was on site to fill the flutes– or compostable cups.

The past summer months of Tri-for-fun’s in Pleasanton have been preparation for this past weekends Tri-for-real. Athletes of all ages came out  for the 700yard swim, 18mile bike, 4mile run.

We set-up the Bear Naked tent near the bike transition to get as close to the action as possible. The highlight of our day occurred when the gentleman above, completed both the swim and bike ride and stopped by our tent to scarf down a granola parfait before taking off on the 4mile run! Now that’s Living Bear Naked!!!

This past Saturday we cruised over to Lake Merced in San Francisco for the 1st annual “We’ve Got Your Back” Race/Walk benefiting The Spinal Research Foundation. Hundreds came out to race around the 4.5mile scenic lake. It was great to be apart of this race which raised funds that directly contributes to life changing research and educational programs.

We drove down the Cali coast to lover’s point park for the Pacific Grove Triathlon. Our fun-filled weekend included an Olympic Distance Tri, Sprint, 10K and 5K race. Thousands of athletes participated and received Bear Naked love after crossing the finish line. It was inspiring to see all the athletes out in the bay and hitting in concrete – truly a great accomplishment! Check out the pictures of this awesome race.

II Giro di San Francisco

A .7mile loop was setup in Downtown San Francisco this past Labor Day with over 10 cycling races throughout the day. These elite athletes were flying around the corners on this short loop and it was awesome to watch. Hundreds of riders and supporters came out for the race and were lucky enough to grab some Bear Naked parfaits.

Race To The End Of Summer

Say it ain’t so! We’re not ready to let go of summer. This past Sunday we headed down to San Jose for the Race To The End of Summer 5K/10K. All the participants woke up early to soak up all the summer sun they could get before it leaves. The race didn’t disappoint - it was in the mid-80’s and a great time to hit the concrete for a run. Everyone was happy to grab a granola parfait after they crossed the finish line.

Bear Naked Escapes From Alcatraz

This past weekend we attended The Inaugural San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz. Saturday’s expo was windy to say the least. Our granola samples weren’t the only things flying off our tables. Our crates, bags, coupons took off in the wind many times. Their were periods when the Bear Naked tent almost took off like that house in Wizard of Oz! The Bear Naked team stabilized and stood their ground to fuel up the athletes courageous enough to take on the Alcatraz Tri.

Luckily the tri-athletes plea to Aeolus was granted and Sunday mornings race was practically windless. All the awesome athletes survived the escape from Alcatraz and grabbed some Bear Naked goodness at the finish line. Congrats to all the finishers!

Bay Vistaaaaaa.

It was a gorgeous day and everybody was happy to let out a big ahhhhh for summer and the Bay Vista 5K/10K. Set up beside some comfy shoes, a chiropractor  and some athletic tape, Bear Naked was a prime treat post-race. Who doesn’t love a little Fruit & Nut topped with organic vanilla yogurt, eh?

All kinds of in-shape humans flew past the bay while kicking up their  heels, racing to win a place in the pack. (Speaking of packs…I spotted a pack of wild cats, as in feral cats not tigers, hiding in the woods- avoiding the fast feet). People were sweaty, smiling and happy– Bear Naked definitely had something to do with the last part.

Summer “Freeze” in San Leandro

Posted on August 23rd, 2010 | by Amber & Phil | No Comments »

The Bear Naked team bundled up Saturday and served granola-yogurt parfaits to a chilled crowd of runners– the San Leandro Summer Breeze half-marathon, 10K/5K had a great turnout despite the sun-less weather. The fast, flat, scenic route made runners forget the wind and soar through the course in pursuit of the all-natural snacks waiting for them at the finish line.

As always, Bear Naked’s Heavenly Chocolate was a hit and everyone was more than excited to try their own scoop. Good thing we had a stack of $1 off coupons– pretty sure I saw a caravan of post-race appetites headed off to the neighborhood market to stock up!
