The third annual Green Tacoma Day will be on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9am to 12pm. Members of the Green Tacoma Partnership invite everyone to get outside and explore local parks and natural areas!
A number of parks and open spaces throughout Tacoma will be hosting a variety of restoration events and educational activities.
This year’s central hub will be located at the Tacoma Nature Center; there will be restoration activities occurring at the site along with activities aimed at children and families. In addition, the new nature-themed playground called Discovery Pond will be completed and open to the public.
Unfortunately we won’t be there sweating along with our brothers and sisters to the south. But they will be powered by delicious Bear Naked snacks. If you want to get in on this check out their website and free your schedule because it’s going to be a full day of fun!

Come celebrate Family Fitness Day at Magnuson park and participate in a duathlon! What is a duathlon you ask? Well that’s a great question, and luckily we have the interweb to answer these stupefying questions. Apparently it’s like a triathlon except the swimming section is replaced with a second run. In this case it’s 1.6 mile run + 13 mile bike ride + 1.6 mile run. This can be done as an individual, teams, or even as a relay team. The powers that be have decided to hold their typical 5k, 10k, and 15k runs as well.
We are going to be there with yogurt and granola in hand to keep all these individuals and teams energized! Grab the kids; It’s hip to be fit!
